Fuel receive Bondra, Press from AHL

The Indy Fuel received two players from their American Hockey League affiliate ahead of Saturday’s home opener.

Forward Radovan Bondra and defenseman Robin Press were both assigned to Indy this week.

Bondra, a fifth-round pick of the Blackhawks in 2015, was assigned to Indy prior to the season, but quickly recalled before he could report. He is a rookie who had 32 goals and 31 assists in 62 games in the Western Hockey League last season. Bondra has not played in the AHL this season, but did play one game for WHL Prince George prior to signing an AHL contract with Rockford.

Press was a seventh-round pick of the Blackhawks in 2013. He signed an AHL contract with Rockford mid-season last year and played much of the year’s second half in Indy, where he had 10 points in 30 games. Press has played two AHL games this season.

To create room on the roster, the Fuel moved forward Matt Johnson to the reserve list.

The Fuel also released forwards J.T. Barnett and Connor Reilly. They have 12 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders on the roster.

The Fuel, 0-1-1 on the season, host the Tulsa Oilers at 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the home opener at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
