The Indy Fuel announced Tuesday the team has named Ryan McGinnis as an assistant coach.
The team also announced John Bierchen, who was hired as an assistant in the summer, has left the team due to health reasons.
McGinnis will be a full-time assistant to Bernie John as training camp opens this weekend.
As a player, McGinnis was part of the Florida Everblades’ Kelly Cup title in 2012, and played five years in the AHL and ECHL. He has spent the last four years as a coach in Florida and Arizona, most recently working with the Phoenix Junior Coyotes.
“First off, I’m excited to be here. I’m looking forward to meeting the players and getting to know the staff, and I like where this organization is heading,” McGinnis said in a team statement. “Everything looks good here. We’re all going to share a common goal – to win and to get better, and I am looking forward to doing what I can to make those things happen.”
