Jari Kaarela: Goaltender for the Checkers for two games in 1980-81. He won both games, allowing four goals and posting a shutout. He also played five NHL games with the Colorado Rockies that season, winning two. Kaarela played two seasons in North America, spending most of the 1980-81 year in the CHL with Fort Worth, and the 1981-82 year in the IHL with Muskegon. He also played several years in his native Finland. A native of Tampere, Finland, he is 59.

Nicklas Lindberg: Center for the Indy Fuel in 2014-15. He joined the team in January and made an impact as a playmaking center. He had nine goals and 18 assists in 38 games. Lindberg came to the Fuel a veteran of minor pro hockey, having played 10 years in the ECHL, CHL and the second iteration of the IHL. He played the 2015-16 season in Orlando. A native of Stockholm, Sweden, he is 37.
