Bill Prentice: Racers defenseman in 1975-76, and again in 1977-78. He had five goals and three assists in 59 games with the Racers. He played 158 WHA games from 1972-78 with Houston, Indianapolis, Quebec and Edmonton. The Michigan Tech grad retired after the 1979-80 season. A native of Lindsay, Ont., he is 67.

James Black: Defenseman/wing who played for the Ice in 1995-96, where he led the team with 32 goals and also added 50 assists in 67 games. He earned a callup to the Chicago Blackhawks at the end of that season, and spent much of the next five seasons in the NHL with Chicago and Washington. Drafted in the fifth round of the 1989 draft by the Whalers, he also played in Hartford, Minnesota and Buffalo. Black was a prolific minor-league scorer, but his best year came with the Ice. He had 58 goals and 115 points in 352 NHL games. He retired after playing the 2005 season in Italy, his 16th professional season. A native of Regina, Sask., he is 48. He now works with the St. Thomas More Hockey Academy in Edmonton.

Matt Cooney: Left wing who played 29 games for the Ice in 1998-99. He had two goals and nine assists. The Cornell graduate played two pro seasons, the majority in the ECHL, between 1997-99. A native of Wilcox, Sask., he is 43.

Steve Jakiel: Ice goaltender in 2005-06. He played 21 games for the Ice that season after coming over in a midseason trade from Lincoln. He went from the Ice to play one season at Western Michigan, and three years at Div. III Curry College. A native of Santa Clarita, Calif., he is 31.
