The Indy Fuel have their first player in the fold for the 2017-18 season, announcing Tuesday the team has re-signed defenseman Chris Williams.
Williams brings a number of attributes to the Fuel, first of all being a big, physical defenseman. At 6-2, 220, he plays a simple, strong defensive game and can anchor the right side. He also is versatile, having played a handful of games at forward when the Fuel were shorthanded up front. Williams also is a strong leader who is unafraid to drop the gloves. He led the Fuel with 128 penalty minutes last season, his rookie year in the ECHL.
Williams had four goals and seven assists in 53 games with the Fuel last season, his first full pro year after a four-year career at Alaska-Anchorage.
