Happy birthday to … 

Jan Jas: Right wing who played 90 games with the Ice from 1999-2001. He was a key part of the Ice’s 2000 Miron Cup championship team, with 10 points in the playoffs that year. Playing alongside his brother Peter, Jan had 38 goals and 28 assists with the Ice, including a 26-goal season in 1999-2000. He played junior hockey in the U.S., and broke in as a professional in 1998 in the ECHL and WPHL with three different teams. After his two years with the Ice, he played in Europe and several more seasons in the UHL/IHL  before retiring in 2009 — scoring 22 goals for three different teams in his final pro season. He since spent a stint the head coach of Indiana University’s club hockey program, and has been an assistant coach with the Indy Fuel since the team’s inaugural 2014-15 season. A native of Presov, Slovakia, he is 39.
