2014: The Ice move to within one game of a Clark Cup championship, beating Waterloo 4-1 at Pan Am Pavilion. Tyler Pham and Patrick Newell score in the first, and Mitch Hults adds a power play goal with 1:48 left in the second to give the Ice a 3-0 lead. Jason Pawloski makes 27 saves to make it stand up. Pham and Scott Conway, who tallies an empty-netter in the third, each have a goal and an assist. Alex Talcott assists on two goals. The Ice lead the series 2-1.

Happy birthday to …

Matt Smith: Carmel native who played 83 games for the Ice over three seasons from 2005-08. A defenseman, he had a goal, 16 assists and 123 penalty minutes. He also played six postseason games, and was a part of the division championship team in 2007-08. He went on to play four years at Nebraska-Omaha. He is 29.
