1943: A Valentine’s Day outburst for the Capitals, as Adam Brown tallies a hat trick and an assist in a 6-5 win over the Washington Lions. Joe Fisher and Connie Brown each have four assists in the win.
1951: Johnny Wilson has three assists and Fred Glover two goals and an assis as the Caps beat Cincinnati 9-4. Jim Henry makes 42 saves in goal.
1962: The Chiefs’ Bill LeCaine has two goals and two assists, including the game-winner, in a 6-4 win over the Toledo Mercurys. Jean Therrien adds a goal and an assist, and Bobby Rivard and Bill Wilkes two assists each.
1981: Charlie Skjodt has a hat trick and Glen Duncan scores the winner 33 seconds into the third period as the Checkers win 4-3 in Salt Lake. Hector Marini assists on three goals.
1997: The Ice’s infamous ‘pink jersey’ Valentine’s Day game nets a 9-2 rout of the Michigan K-Wings. Wearing pink jerseys with red hearts enveloping the numbers, the Ice gain national attention for their game. Steve Dubinsky nets a five-point night with two goals and three assists. Kip Miller also scores a hat trick and adds an assist. Sergei Klimovich has a goal and two assists. Duomas Gronman, Dave Chyzowski and Rob Conn score the other goals, and each adds an assist. The Ice explode for six second-period goals to put the game away, starting with Miller’s tally 25 seconds into the period.
2014: Hayden Stewart’s shutout string ends at a team-record 204:54 – breaking Jon Gillies’ club mark – when Tri-City’s Kevin Kerr scores at 11:25 of the third period. But the Ice win 4-1 at Pan Am Pavilion. Aidan Muir has a goal and an assist. Jason Salvaggio, Dwyer Tschantz and Brian Pinho score to give the Ice a 3-0 lead.

Don “Nipper” O’Hearn: Chiefs goaltender in 1961-62. He had a 7.00 GAA in four games. O’Hearn played primarily as an emergency goaltender in a pro career that began in 1947. His four games with the Chiefs were the final ones of his career. A native of Halifax, NS, he was born in 1928. He passed away in 2015.
