February 5 in Indianapolis hockey history
1950: Rod Morrison has a hat trick as the Capitals beat Hershey 7-2. Joe Lund and Don Morrison have two assists each and Al Dewsbury has a goal and an assist.
1958: Frank Kuzma has a hat trick and adds an assist as the Chiefs beat the Toledo Mercurys 7-3. Bob Bowness scores late in the second to break a three-all tie. Cliff Hicks makes 24 saves in net. It’s the scond time in three games a =nd the fifth time in eight games a Chief nets a hat trick.
1976: Al Karlander and Bob Fitchner score twice each in a 4-2 Racers win over Quebec at MSA.
1977: Gene Peacosh scores twice and adds an assist, while Bob Sicinski and Rene Leclerc each tally a goal and an assist. Both Brian Coates and Michel Parizeau have two assists in a 5-2 Racers win over Birmingham at MSA, in which they pepper Barons goaltender Wayne Wood with 48 shots.
1978: On the heels of a 172-penalty minute melee in Birmingham, the Racers and Bulls meet 24 hours later in MSA. The results are as expected. Kevin Morrison and Kevin Devine for the Racers scrap with Birmingham’s Dave Hanson, Phil Roberto and Pete Durbano just 3:04 into the game. Birmingham is whistled for 71 minutes and the Racers 25 in the first period. For the game, the Racers are given 47 penalty minutes, the Bulls 115. Birmingham’s Dave Hanson alone gets two majors, two minors, two misconducts and a game misconduct for 44 penalty minutes. The Racers win 6-1, with Kevin Morrison posting a four-point day with four assists. Peter Driscoll has two goals and an assist. Claude St. Sauveur has a goal and two assists, and Ken Block three assists in the win. Head coach Ron Ingram would be fired in the days after the game.
1996: James Black has four assists in a 6-3 win at Utah. Kip Miller and Ben Grieve tally two goals and an assist each. Daniel Gauthier gets things going 1:04 into the game. Mike Prokopec and Grieve open things up with goals 41 seconds apart midway through the second, making it 4-1. Miller added another goal four minutes later. Prokopec has a shot at another goal, but is stopped on a penalty shot 45 seconds into the third.

Joe Widmar: Ice forward in 2012-13. He had two goals and four assists in 25 games with the team. He had 41 points for USHL Des Moines last season, and is currently a sophomore at UMass-Amherst. He had six points in 32 games as a freshman in 2015-16. A native of Northbrook, Ill., he is 22.
Rob De Fulviis: Forward who played two games with the Indy Fuel at the end of the 2015-16 season. He was acquired after a brief stint with Wheeling and a three-year college career at the University of Guelph in Ontario. He currently plays for the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones. A native of Toronto, he is 25.
