Indy Fuel forward Alex Wideman shone in the ECHL All-Star Classic, scoring two goals to lead the All-Stars to an 8-7 win over the Adirondack Thunder in Wednesday’s game.
The contest, played in a non-traditional format in the Thunder’s Glens Falls, N.Y. home rink,
Wideman scored both of his goals in the opening half of the two that were played – the “second period” was a skills competition. In the half, played entirely 5-on-5, Wideman scored 7:19 in on a feed from MVP Matt Garbowsky of Colorado to give the All-Stars a 1-0 lead. He scored again with :13 left in the first half to give the All-Stars a 4-1 lead – coming nine seconds after Adirondack’s first goal.
Wideman and the Fuel return home Friday night to play six consecutive home games over the next two weekends. The Fuel open with a contest against the Toledo Walleye, before hosting Cincinnati on Saturday and Sunday.
