1943: Caps goaltender Harry Lumley is called up to the Red Wings, so trainer Les Tooke makes his first start as a Capital and makes 23 saves to beat the Cleveland Barons 3-1. Hy Buller scores the game-winner and Bill Thomson has a goal and an assist.
1959: Pierre Brilliant has three goals and an assist for the Chiefs as they beat Milwaukee 4-1. Ron Rubic has a goal and an assist and player-coach Marcel Clements has a goal and an assist in the victory. Chuck Adamson makes 21 saves.
1960: Carl Wetzel makes 65 saves in a 5-3 Chiefs loss at St. Paul.
1975: The Racers blow a 4-1 lead, but Bob Fitcher scores 1:44 into OT to secure a 5-4 win over Cleveland at MSA. Bob Sicinski, who had the assist on the game-winner, tallies a goal and two assists.
1982: Kelly Hrudey stops 21 shots as the Checkers post their third shutout in four games, beating Colorado 5-0. Scott Howson scores two goals and Kevin Define has two assists in the game. It’s the team’s 10th straight win.
1992: Brad Lauer scores at 1:46 of overtime to give the Ice a 5-4 win over Milwaukee. He has two goals and an assist. Tony Hrkac also scores to extend his scoring streak to 19 games.
