Gene Peacosh: Racers center in 1976-77, best-known for his rebound goal that ended the longest game in WHA history. It beat Cincinnati Stingers goaltender Normand LaPointe at the 108:40 mark, giving the Racers a 4-3 Game 1 victory in a series they’d eventually sweep. Peacosh had 22 goals and 26 assists in 64 games for the Racers that season, and three goals and three assists in nine playoff games. Peacosh played five WHA seasons for the New York Raiders/Golden Blades, San Diego Mariners, Edmonton Oilers and Racers, and played four seasons prevoiusly for the EHL’s Johnstown Jets. He scored at least 20 goals in all five of his WHA years, with 165 goals and 165 assists in 367 total WHA games. He retired from hockey after the 1977 season. A native of Sherridon, Manitoba, he is 68.
