The Indy Fuel announced their 2016-17 promotional schedule, which again covers virtually every one of the team’s 37 scheduled dates at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum – one preseason game and 36 tilts in the ECHL regular season.
The season will begin with an indoor fireworks show after the opening night game against Cincinnati on Oct. 14, and feature the Fuel wearing special sweaters for three games.
The team will wear special sweaters for four games. On Dec. 2, the team will commemorate the Indiana bicentennial against Cincinnati with special sweaters. They will also sport specialty uniforms on Blackhawks Night Jan. 14 – which will also have Jim Cornelison again ready to begin the festivities. On Feb. 24, the Fuel and Fort Wayne Komets will both wear specialty sweaters designed by local patients as part of “The Giving Game” in partnership with the Community Health Network Foundation. The third annual “Pink in the Rink” breast cancer awareness game will be March 18, with specialty pink sweaters.
The Teddy Bear Toss returns Dec. 17 against Quad City, where fans are invited to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal and toss it onto the ice after the Fuel’s first goal. The Hockey Night in Indy promotion will be March 10, celebrating the team’s 100th home game. The annual Racing Night promotion will be the next night, with several drivers and race cars on hand.
Among the other highlights are the return of Family Fun Days for eight of the nine Sunday games – Nov. 20, Nov. 27, Jan. 1, Jan. 22, Feb. 12, March 12, March 19 and April 2. Tuesday and Wednesday home games – on Nov. 23, Dec. 20 and April 4 – will include all-you-can-eat concessions. The Fan Appreciation Night will again be held April 8, with the bobblehead giveaway being of former Fuel forward Chris DeSousa.
