Fuel sign Koudys, Clarke

The Indy Fuel added two new players to the roster Monday, rookie defenseman Patrick Koudys and forward Dylan Clarke.

Both players bring leadership to the Fuel dressing room, as both were captains or assistant captains for their teams last season.

The two signings now give the Fuel 13 forwards, five defensemen and a goaltender on the preseason roster ahead of training camp, which is set to open the first weekend in October.

Clarke was an alternate captain for the Rapid City Rush last season, and comes to the Fuel with 240 games of pro experience. Last year, he had 16 goals and 29 assists, as well as a career-high 104 PIM. He made his pro debut in 2011-12, and had a 29-goal, 64-point season for the CHL’s Tulsa Oilers. He then came to the ECHL the following year and had 25 goals and 27 assists for South Carolina and Evansville, leading the IceMen in scoring. He tallied 17 points in 39 games for the IceMen in 2013-14 before going to Rapid City last season to complete a future considerations trade.

Clarke has 240 games of professional experience, and he becomes the 13th player to join the Fuel who has professional hockey experience. He has 80 goals and 91 assists in his pro career. He is a left shot who stands 6-2, 174.

Koudys was the captain of Penn State’s hockey team in 2014-15 as a senior defenseman. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Washington Capitals in 2011. He played 72 games at Penn State the last two seasons, with three goals and 16 points. He also played for RPI from 2010-12, with two goals and five points in 58 games. He played his transfer year with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks, with 15 points in 2012-13.

He played collegiately for Guy Gadowsky on the Nittany Lions roster.

At 6-3, 210, Koudys brings size to the Fuel blueline.

He will be a second-generation Indianapolis hockey player, as his father, Jim Koudys, was a center who played 56 games for the IHL’s Indianapolis Checkers from 1984-86.

  2. The next time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought youd have one thing attention-grabbing to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you could repair should you werent too busy searching for attention.
