The Indy Fuel have signed RW Peter Schneider to an amateur tryout offer.
Schneider recently completed his college career at Notre Dame, where he had seven goals and nine assists and was +4 this season in 41 games. Over his four year career at ND, he had 22 goals and 25 assists in 138 games, including 16 points in each of the last two seasons. Schneider was an alternate captain for the Fighting Irish this season.
Schneider played junior hockey for the Indiana Ice, where he scored 30 goals and 53 points in 55 games during the 2010-11 season. He also had three points in five playoff games that season. He was the team’s third-leading goal scorer that season, behind Blake Coleman and Daniil Tarasov.
He is a native of Vienna, Austria who will turn 24 on April 4. He stands 5-11, 195.
His Notre Dame bio calls him a high-energy player, a key penalty-killer with speed and a “tremendous shot from the right side, a smart player who contributes at both ends of the ice … brings character to the ice and in the locker room … has great hands and instincts around the goal … excellent one-on-one player who can make a play and find the open man … has all the tools to be a top-level collegiate player.”
Schneider was an Academic All-District player his junior season, and had the top GPA on the team.
