Indy Fuel goaltender Mac Carruth has been named the ECHL’s Goaltender of the Week for the week of January 19-25.
Carruth went 3-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.67 GAA and a .974 save percentage in the three games last week, and has won his last five starts.
The 22-year-old turned aside all 26 shots he faced in a 1-0 win at Gwinnett on Monday, made 21 saves in a 4-1 victory against Allen on Friday and stopped 27 shots in a 4-1 win over Evansville on Saturday.
Carruth also had an assist in the 4-1 victory over Evansville, and nearly scored an empty-net goal.
Carruth is 6-9-4 with a 2.69 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 20 games for the Fuel. He is also 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .960 save percentage in two games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs this season. The 22-year-old was a seventh-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010, and is under contract to the Blackhawks.
The Jackson, Wyoming native has played in 52 ECHL games with Indy, Florida and Toledo over the last two seasons.
Carruth is the first Fuel player to receive a weekly ECHL honor.
