INDIANAPOLIS – In an effort to aid in the ongoing fight against breast cancer, the Indy Fuel have partnered with Susan G. Komen Central Indiana to host the team’s inaugural “Pink in the Rink” Night at the Fairgrounds Coliseum at 7:35 p.m. October 24 as the Fuel host the Toledo Walleye, the team announced Tuesday.
Fuel players will wear commemorative pink jerseys during the game that will be auctioned off to fans online after the game for the remainder of the month of October with a portion of the total proceeds going directly to Susan G. Komen Central Indiana to fund breast cancer research and breast health services to women in our community.
“We are thrilled to partner with Susan G. Komen Central Indiana to do our part in the fight against breast cancer,” said Fuel President Sean Hallett on Tuesday. “This disease has affected so many lives across Central Indiana and the world. We hope to raise a lot of money for a terrific cause and a great local organization with our ‘Pink in the Rink’ Night.”
In addition to bidding on the Fuel’s game-worn, player autographed jerseys, fans can support the cause by purchasing special, limited edition “Pink in the Rink” Indy Fuel pucks and other merchandise via the Fuel’s online merchandise shop throughout the month of October. A portion of all “Pink in the Rink” merchandise proceeds will also go to Susan G. Komen Central Indiana. At the Fuel’s Halloween home game vs. the Evansville IceMen on October 31st, Fuel officials will cap the team’s month-long “Pink in the Rink” fundraising efforts by presenting Susan G. Komen Central Indiana with a check for the full amount of the team’s donation.
All ticket holders in attendance on Oct. 24 will receive complimentary Susan G. Komen “Thunderstix,” presented by Kroger. Fans are encouraged to show their support of the cause and of breast cancer survivors everywhere by wearing pink to the event. Special guests and survivors will be highlighted over the course of the evening to celebrate increased awareness of breast cancer. Pink ribbons are available to attendees on game night, as supplies last.
Additionally, the Fuel encourage fans to sign up for Susan G. Komen Central Indiana’s 5K “Race for the Cure,” set for April 18, 2015. For more information, visit www.KomenIndy.org/race.
