Training camps are taking place throughout the NHL, and the Chicago Blackhawks prospects played a three-game tournament in London, Ontario over the weekend.
With the Indy Fuel affiliated with the Blackhawks, it was an opportunity to see players who might potentially suit up with the Fuel or the AHL Rockford IceHogs. Not only that, but there are several players who are unsigned by NHL clubs who played in the various tournaments. Fuel signee Cory Thorson suited up for Chicago, and Klarc Wilson played for Vancouver.
As noted, the Hawks rookies played three games in London.
Monday: Senators 5, Blackhawks 4, SO. Teuvo Teravainen had three spectacular assists, and Mark McNeill had two goals and an assist. Viktor Svedberg and Trevor van Riemsdyk had two points each in the game. Mac Carruth Brett Welychka, a non-roster invitee, also had a goal for Chicago. Mac Carruth played goal. Sunday: Penguins 5, Blackhawks 4, SO. Matt Carey scored with 1.5 seconds left, carrying the Hawks back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game before they fell in a shootout. Philip Danault and Dennis Rasmussen, both former Hawks draft picks, started the comeback. Ken Appleby, a non-roster invitee, was the goaltender. Boxscore & highlights

Wilson makes impact for Canucks
Fuel signee Klarc Wilson played as an invitee to the Canucks camp. He dropped the gloves a couple of times (as noted in this photo and video, the latter standing up for a teammate who had taken a hard hit).
Ice alumni at camp
Former Indiana Ice defenseman Rinat Valiev did not participate in the Leafs rookie tournament due to injury and will play this season in junior. … Another former Ice player, forward Adam Erne, suited up on Tuesday in the final game for the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was his first game since offseason wrist surgery. “It’s been a while since I have played a game, so I definitely had to get my legs underneath me,” he told the Tampa Bay Times. … Brian Ferlin played for the Boston Bruins in the same Nashville tournament. He was featured in several Boston publications (MetroWest Daily News, NESN, Boston Herald, Boston Globe, WEEI, WBZ and BostonBruins.com among them) and scored a goal in Tuesday’s loss to Florida … Indiana native and 2012-13 Ice forward Blake Siebenaler played for Columbus in Traverse City. He was featured in the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. … Former Ice Nic Dowd is playing for the Kings in their rookie camp. … Justin Bailey, who played briefly for the Ice, scored a goal for the Sabres in a rookie tourney in Traverse City. … 2013-14 Ice D Ryan Mantha also played in that tourney for the Rangers
